Social Too Saves You from an Auto-DM Flood

Has your Twitter inbox been flooded/ polluted by recieving too many automatic direct messages? Do you feel like it has become a chore to filter through dozens or even hundreds of DMs in your inbox just to find a few personal messages?

No worries, you are in luck, Social Too is the tool that will stop all auto-DMs from entering your Twitter DM/ inbox. With just a check-mark in a tiny box in your preferences area, Social Too will prevent all auto-DMs from being sent to you. At first it may take a day or so for the service to start but as soon as it does it is like magic. Once my Social Too service kicked-in, I only receive personal DMs. However I do still receive generic DMs but at least they were not sent by an automated service and it was easy to filter through genuine and generic messages. This blocking auto-DM feature is a must-have for all Tweeters, especially popular ones. Use Social Too and clear-up your Twitter DM box.

It is a simple process to sign-up, you connect with Social Too through logging-in to either Twitter or Facebook. Once connected you will have access to other great features in addition to blocking auto-DMs. Save time by using the auto-follow feature which will automatically follow back those who follow you. Automatically unfollow those who stopped following you with the Auto Unfollow feature. This feature also allows you to unfollow spam suspects. Creating surveys/polls may be the best social feature from Social Too since you can then send the polls to your Twitter followers, FaceBook, and FriendFeed friends.

If you are one who is a Tweeter and a FaceBooker then you are in luck because Social Too offers a couple useful FaceBook promotion tools. One of the tools I already mentioned above about creating and sending polls for your FaceBook profile, the other allows creation of a personalized FaceBook profile URL. This URL will be in the format of "yourname.socialtoo.com" and redirects to your FaceBook profile. Yes FaceBook does offer this feature for its users but in case you did not get the exact name you wanted from FaceBook, there is a great chance it will be available from Social Too.

I highly recomend Social Too, they are the only Twitter tool I have found to block auto-DMs. They have awesome customer service with an extremely quick response, which is very impressive since I am just a free member. Great features, customer service and best of all Social Too is free for all of the features I have covered in this post.

It is not easy being popular on Twitter, essecially once your Twitter following reaches into the thousands. So thank goodness for 3 Twitter tool gems that will work wonders for you. Hoot Suite claims they are the ultimate Twitter tool box and as far as free tools go they are the ultimate tool box by great lengths. This toolbox includes managing multiple accounts, URL shortening/ tracking, and scheduling tweets. They have also just added the ability to integrate Google Adsense to the links you shorten. Ping.fm integration is now available as well. Hoot Suite also offers an awesome twitter add on for your toolbar. Remember this great Twitter application is free so if you enjoy Hoot Suite and use it a lot drop them a nice donation as a thank you.

At the time of creating this Blog entry I had just discovered my new favorite Twitter productivity application, Tweet Spinner. Why is it my new favorite, well it is in large part to Tweet Spinner's Smart friends and followers feature. This feature is similar to FriendOrFollow.com as it shows you how many people you follow who you do not follow back and how many you follow who do not follow back. 4. Tweet Burner- This is a great tool to shorten and track your URLs. It is easy to sign-up and very easy to use. In fact you do not even need to sign-up for an account to shorten a link, only if you want to track it. I have even shorten and tracked links that I used on FaceBook and Squidoo. Tweet Burner still has more to offer as their stats page is currently disabled but you can stll track your link's stats under the archieve tab. Under archieves you can look up indivdual stats for your link such has total clicks to your link, how many clicks in the first and last 24hrs. of posting your link, and which sites your link was directed from( like Twitter).

5. Friend or Follow- If you want to close the gap between who you are following and who is following back then Friend or Follow is the tool to use. Simply enter your user name and Friend or Follow will bring up all of the users who are not following you back. You can sort them by name, last tweet, age of account, number of followers and following. From there you can decide who you want to follow back are not. You can also view who you are not following back and who are your mutual friends. It can take a lot of time to sort through users and unfollow them so you my want to visit Friend or Follow at least once or twice a week. As far as who to unfollow is up to you, it may turn out you want to follow all those who are not following you back, in that case there is less or no work for you.

6. WeFollow- One of the best Twitter directories, if not the best out there. If you are not on it add yourself immediately. Even if you already belong to another Twitter Directory it is a good idea to add your Twitter account to all the directories out there, after all the more exposure the merrier. I feel like the best of Twitter is on WeFollow, so add yourself because you belong with the best!

Get 50-100 Niche Followers a Day!

I have a few different Twitter accounts I market for and using the methods below get me 50+ followers in my target niche every day. By niche followers I mean people who share your interests that are following you. Now I have just created my Twitter account for this blog and I received 250 followers (check it out) overnight! It is not hard to get 50 to 100 niche followers a day, but it can be tedious to do so. Here are some steps to help you acquire your new 50+ followers a day!

Set-up your profile with a good picture and a catchy BIO. Your picture is important since it is the first thing people see about your profile. Be sure your picture uploads nice and clear or it will not be attractive to potential followers. A good, interesting, witty BIO will help attract followers as well.

Follow a person or company in your niche with a large following. You can use the Find People link on the top right of your Twitter page to enter a keyword associated with your niche. For example lets say you want to follow people interested in health, you would enter "health" in the find people search and then choose the Tweeter with a large following(1,000+) who interests you the most. Or you could search for large companies related to health such as Whole Foods (who has over 350,000 followers) and follow them.

Now that you are following a popular Tweeter(s) who share your interest, go through the followers of the popular Tweeter's profile. Find followers who interest you and follow them. To do this quickly you can mouse over a users picture to get their BIO and see if they interest you. Chances are, if you have similar interests, people will cordially follow you back. I suggest start following anywhere from 200-400 people at a time.

Write a couple of interesting Tweets, its easy since you only have 140 characters to play with. Having some Tweets on your page will make it more interesting to people when they check out your profile.

When you start having people follow you, follow back those who interest you. At first, most of your followers will likely be people who you already follow.

Send a direct message to all of your followers, thanking them for following you. You can automate this with a tool called Tweet Later. A personal touch is best but gets overwhelming when you start having 50 people following you at a time.
